![]() Praise For Jet 2Over the years I have travelled a great deal both by air and road. Time constraints mean more often than not that business travel has to be undertaken by air and I have become rather accustomed to the general decline in standards of late. Frequent, short visits to London - often day trips - led me to use the Florence/Gatwick routing with Meridiana for the majority of the time since their schedule is accommodating; Florence is much easier for me than Pisa, Rome or Ancona (the Ryanair alternatives until recently) and I have never had problems with the Gatwick Express whereas I have often had problems with the Stansted equivalent. I guess I am also a bit old-fashioned, or perhaps just set in my ways, but I do like to have an allocated seat and be left in peace with my book or chosen music rather than have my ears assaulted throughout the flight with pleas to buy scratch cards, 'phone cards and other such bargains. In December I needed to get to Manchester, a route which rules out many convenient options including the Perugia flight with Ryanair which, though the departure point is practically on my doorstep, requires the arrival point to be Stansted. What I opted for was a flight with Jet2 from Rome Fiumicino direct to Manchester. Fiumicino is easier to access by train than Ciampino with a direct link from Termini to the heart of the airport. I was so impressed by the Jet2 service that I wanted to tell you about it here. You get an allocated seat and you can even choose it online before departure. But the big thing that struck me was - the politeness of the staff and the old-fashioned standards of in-flight service. Compared with the Alitalia flight I had taken from Moscow to Rome just three weeks earlier Jet2 was a luxury carrier. I can recommend them to all of you who are fortunate to be within range of their destinations. Who says I am never satisfied?(Set2 take off) See also: |
